New Mission and Housekeeping

Posted on Sun Jun 28th, 2015 @ 2:01pm by Captain Julius Whitlam

All Hands,

This month has been a bit slower than our first month, but I’m confident we’ll soon be able to pick that up. I have to shoulder most of the responsibility for that as we’ve come to the end of the Prologue mission and I haven’t had much time to get us moving on our first mission in the last couple of weeks.

Well I’m hoping that will change now. I’m officially opening up our first mission - “First Strike” - and will be starting up a bridge post to cover our arrival at Starbase 310 very shortly. In the meantime, everyone is encouraged to write up solo posts or joint posts that cover what your characters have done during the transit to Starbase 310 (a period of a couple of days) or their continued preparation for war.

I know there are also some posts from our Prologue that aren’t quite finished yet. Writers involved with those posts should try to wrap them up ASAP and they’ll be dealt with as back posts.

So, what is the mission? Essentially, this mission covers an event mentioned in Trek Canon, but not seen. That being the joint Federation-Klingon attack on the Dominion Shipyards on Torros III. This battle takes place while the Dominion is busy seizing Deep Space Nine.

The Manoora will be given a particular secondary mission during the attack, which will utilise our complete war-fighting capability. More on that will come later, but I can assure that everybody will have a part to play in the Battle of Torros III.

Manifest Changes

A couple of housekeeping matters. I neglected to give a shout out to our new Chief Engineering Officer, Lieutenant Kaylee Williams. Welcome aboard, Lieutenant!

Also, those who scour the manifest every day will have noticed that Captain Rennan Aamas, Flight Leader of Red Flight, is no longer with us. The writer behind Aamas removed himself from our sim and a number of other sims. He will not be returning.

NPCs

Some of you have already created NPCs, and that’s great. I am very happy for writers to create NPCs for their department (or other departments, in consultation with that department head), so don’t hold back.

One of the things I want to do with this sim is encourage people to develop minor characters to get a “below decks” perspective of our missions and the war. If you would like to create a secondary character, please don’t hesitate to do so. Just make sure they fit in with the sim in terms of species and capabilities etc.

Final Word

Finally, I just want to once again apologise for my absence of late. I’m confident that we can continue to go from strength to strength aboard this sim and I’m looking forward to some cracking storytelling coming through as we plunge head first into the Dominion War.

Keep up the good work, everybody.
