Medic in space.

Posted on Mon Jul 13th, 2015 @ 2:28am by Staff Sergeant Sandrine White

Mission: First Strike
Location: Starbase 310

Staff Sergeant Sandrine Eleanor White stood looking out the huge window into the vastness of space. She shifted slightly in place, uncomfortable at the thought of spending her next few years with only a few deck platings between her and nothingness. She’d spent most of her time planet-side throughout her career, spending time on ships or starbases only as long as it took to get from one assignment to the next. This was sure to be different.

“Seems your getting back on the front.” she said to her reflection. “That's where you belong. These past two years have been one very long shore leave.”
Having spent the past two years teaching trainees on how to perform battlefield surgery had been great, but it lacked something. The feeling of actually doing something. She knew her time hadn’t been a waste. It was always good to teach the newbloods, but she was happy to get an assignment on the front lines again. Her orders didn’t specify exactly what they’d be doing, but she’d leave that to her new commanding officer. She couldn’t be sure she’d be on the front of the upcoming war, but if Delta Company was involved, chances were on her side.
“It had to be cardassians again. I’ll feel right at home.” She chided herself for her mocking tone.

Half turning to leave, something out of the corner of her eye caught her attention. Turning back, she looked outside and noticed a ship closing in. Akira class. U.S.S. Manoora.
Sandrine watched her close in, studying every detail. This was going to be home. Not just a transport, but a place to unwind, people to get to know. She smiled a little. This wasn’t the first ship she’d seen, but it was the first one she found pretty. “Time to get back to work.” Picking up her dufflebag she headed towards the main docking moor.
