Captain's Log - Stardate 50977.4

Admiral Gilhouley's task force is en route to the Torros III shipyards, on the Cardassian side of the border. Our objective is to destroy the shipyards and deal an early strategic blow to the Dominion's ability to wage war.

War. It's difficult to believe that we're really here. This Cold War is turning very hot very quickly. The only hope now of avoiding war is that the Dominion fleet doesn't attack Deep Space Nine after all. As I record this, we are waiting to hear word from DS9 that the Dominion have attacked. When we receive that report - and, despite my hope, I'm confident that they will attack - we will proceed with our strike on Torros III.

The Manoora has a particular role in the coming battle. We'll be part of a detachment under the command of my old friend Captain George Lassiter of the U.S.S. Baltimore. Our task is to insert our special forces marines into Torrokkan City to capture or kill Legate Olan Jerad.

I'm expecting at least some resistance in the air above the city and in orbit once the Cardassians realise what we're doing. But with most of the planet's defences positioned against the bulk of the task force, I'm hopeful that any resistance will be weak and I can get most of my people out alive.
