| Personal History | When he was 19 he enlisted with the Starfleet Marines and following basic training was assigned to the 82nd Battalion, based in Darwin. He spent the first few years of his career as a grunt in the 82nd before being identified as special forces material. He trained at the Marine Corps Special Operations School and was one of only five to make the cut in his cohort of two hundred trainees. After getting through the School, he was assigned to the 10th Marine Special Forces Battalion and within twelve months was made Squad Leader. His troopers regarded him as a fine soldier and trusted him implicitly with their lives. He took this trust very seriously and always did everything he could for the welfare of his squad. His style got him noticed and in 2372 he was made Platoon Sergeant. While he didn't relish the idea of having to babysit a fresh-faced Louie in addition to looking after his troopers, he soon discovered a knack for bringing the best out of his platoon commander as well. As tensions with the Dominion increased, Gus found himself faced with the very real threat of a shooting war. He knew he was ready for it. |
