| Physical Description | Kaylee has long shoulder length blonde hair. Fair skinned, with a slight serious but compassionate look in her face. | General Overview | Kaylee loves working, either to fix something or replace a broken part, you can usually find her under something or in medical for burns she has suffered. In general she is a pretty out going and free spirited person. She is kind of like her dad in many aspects due to the fact she hung out with him a lot growing up. She is quite adept at general engineering as well as nano-engineering. | |
| Strengths & Weaknesses | Kaylee is very strong in her technical skills and at a very young age started to learn martial arts to try to bring balance to her life. She is very capable in managing her time which makes balancing out work and play very much part of her life. She is very trusting which leads to her weakness, people tend to take advantage of that trust. She loves to help people even if that happens to be a double edged sword. She considers herself a scavenger, picking up parts that others discard and remaking them into something new to sell or to use. She is also known to be overconfident in her abilities when a challenge is bigger than her. She is also very resourceful and tends to tinker on things until a new life is breathed into them. She enjoys taking things apart and reassembling them as something else which makes her a rare commodity in the galaxy. She is overly curious and typically doesnt listen to others when there is something she wants to solve for good or bad. Even if it includes pressing a button she isnt supposed to press but she wants to, in order to find out what it does. She tends to have tunnel vision when working on a project. On occasion she will be found tinkering to build something on a mere dream just to see what it turns out to be later. She also considers herself quite the archer as she dislikes using the more advanced phasers of the day and if needed make crude weapons from almost nothing. She found after her time of nearly dieing in the Marine Corps, she quickly formed a phobia of small and confined places. Being the bookworm she is she rarely gets out to socialize, so her social skills are severely lacking. |

| Personal History | Kaylee was born and raised on earth by a single father who worked as a engineer for Utopia Plantia shipyard. So she was raised around engineers her entire life. When she was old enough to work, she followed her father to work every day to get some experience under her belt to make going to Boot camp a tad easier. When she turned 18, she left home and headed for boot camp. Her father was angry that she left but also understood. Kaylee didnt know what was in store for her. She found she enjoyed being trained as a Combat Engineer and taught how to rely on Nanites for various purposes. When she was done with boot camp she was sent off to join a Squad on the outskirts of Federation space who was in bad need of a combat engineer and Kaylee was one of the best that graduated from boot camp. Right out of bootcamp she was picked to be part of an elite Combat Engineer team that was assigned to what was later going to be known as 'The Guardian Initiative'. The TGI for short, was tasked with rebuilding towns and cities that were hit by natural disasters and fortifying strategic locations all across Federation Space, which later would have marines or starfleet security come in and man them later. Then moved on helping others before catastrophe struck. But one day while she was out with her team demolishing some old buildings, Kaylee ended up being buried alive under alot of debris, trapped for several hours while her friends dug her out, she was found unconscious. When she awoke, she found herself in a hospital, stuck their for several weeks as she was recovering both physically and mentally. Until one day she decided to leave the Corps. When Kaylee left the Marine corps after her term of service had expired, she signed up as a Starfleet Engineer instead, going back to school or in this case Starfleet Academy, she was able to graduate due to the constant book worm attitude she took to her studies, hardly going out with the rest of her class to party or what not. She found those to be pursuits that will kill someone rather than help someone. She kept to her studies and took one thing from the Corps to heart and that was being focused on her task, which by some people was a waste of time, but to her she managed to get in more studying and completing more projects than the other students because she worked hard at her studies learning more and more about engineering because the more you know the better off people will be in the long run. To her Starfleet was easy compared to her time at boot camp, the years of training to be a SCE (Starfleet Corps Engineers), the training to be an SCE was slightly different then she expected, as it was less explosive, less programming and more hands on, she didnt expect the amount of building actually required, nor did she expect the training to repair starships, but she managed to get past this despite her phobia to enclosed spaces. She was too used to blowing things up and jury rig repair and working with less, but with her training with the fleet side of things, according to herself, fleet has everything given to them, they no longer needed to work with very little which was a welcome change but still despite her joining SCE, she often longed for the challenges of being a Combat Engineer brought. During her Academy days, she made quite a few friends in all walks of Starfleet, more then she expected but she knew that during her time at the academy she would never see them again, it was a fact of life she had long ago accepted, after all, training can only take a person so far before field experience will be there savior or there doom. Which is why despite the friends she made, she kept to herself, as she didnt want to get to know them incase they did meet an unfortunate end. Which was one of the many hard lessons she had to accept, when she joined the SFMC for the first time. Despite her fear of small spaces, she learned the hard way that as an Engineer people needed her so she forced her fear down and concentrated on the job at hand, but the medication she takes, combined with her knowledge of nano technology makes her engineering tasks that much easier in general. For her first posting outside of Starfleet Academy, she was sent to a science facility that was tasked with archeological dig sites, exploring how the Aztec-like civilization began on another planet, but she didnt understand most of the science talk as she was too busy with Search and Rescue Operations of lost science officers who delved too deep into the world of the once thought dead Aztec society. The posting was slightly boring but it gave her alot of time to study up on the new advancements made into nanotechnology, and keeping the computers and science outpost itself in good working order but otherwise it was a slightly dull post. After her stint with the Inti Colony, she was transferred to the USS Washington as the ships new Engineering Officer, The Washington was tasked with deep space exploration, she was gone for nearly two years, exploring the vastness of space, which made her long for the need of actions even more, so she spent alot of time in the holodeck and after two years, the Washington returned to friendly space and Kaylee was grateful to be back in port, as she was relieved of duty a few times due to the small space factor of her issue and long term service in deep space with little contact with others, so she spent time recuperating After her medical stint to recuperate, she was sent with the USS Alaska as Assistant Engineer, USS Alaska and the USS Oregon both, to strike behind Klingon lines, sister ships of the Prometheus line of ships, they were officially tasked with striking at any Klingon vessels or outposts they ran into. but unofficially they were to keep Klingons from attacking Federation Civilian ships, after weeks of nothing, Klingons attacked the twin ships and crippled the Alaska, before it could raise shields, the ship was evacuated just as the Klingons boarded, and began to attack the crew mercilessly, Kaylee was one of the few who stayed behind to give the crew time to escape to the transporter rooms and shuttles, she fought to keep the ship intact for as long as possible but soon she was ordered to retreat and she did, unfortunately she was the only survivor of her team that got out. The USS Oregon managed to get the survivors onboard and limp there way home with short warp jumps due to the damage to there ship from the battle with the Klingons, the ship had limited power which complicated things but they managed to get back to Federation space, where she was then transferred to the Hospital ship Tendran. USS Tendran was an Olympic class Medical frigate, while she had her time as the ships engineer, she also was treated for PTSD, her fear of small spaces, as well as her mental state over the years, she knew she was OK and as long as she concentrated on the task at hand she would be good for duty. While she was onboard the Tendran, she was part of the SAR team aboard the ship, Search and Rescue due to her previous experience, she managed to build four different SAR teams, for the Tendran, her team being one of the first teams formed. After a few months of working therapy to get better, her experience was going to be needed yet again, as she was transferred back to earth to await new transfer orders. She was given leave as she took some time to spend it with family, get her bearings and try to get some balance in her life back as the past years were fast, rough, and turbulent as the field experience she wanted became to much and she had to harden herself to keep herself on task but the fear of small spaces was at the foremost of her mind, as she reflected on her life thus far. Between family and teaching at the Academy on the differences of Marine life and Starfleet life for the younger generation, she found it to be quite helpful and therapeutic for her to get her experience out there. Some of the students asked her what she thought between field engineering and starship engineering, which she felt was best and all she answered was 'they each have there place'. After lecturing at the Academy for a couple of weeks on orders from Starfleet medical knowing talking about things would help her out and they found sticking her into a room with a shrink had the opposite effect they wanted, so they just allowed her to do her job or a task while doubling it as a therapy session. But despite this, her past will always be with her, all she has to do is live with it, she then got her assignment she was waiting to the fleet yard above Earth, and waited for her ship to arrive. |
