Personality & Traits
General Overview | Sardal is deeply spiritual as many of his people are known to be. He has been reprimanded several times for donning the traditional earrings of his people. As far as his personal skills, he is brusque just shy of being abrasive. It is clear that he has had a past that is full of demons from the way he carries himself and the way that he interacts with others.
Strengths & Weaknesses | His biggest strength is that he is driven. While many enter Starfleet with a drive that is plenty strong. They are doing it because they want to. Sardal on the other hand needs Starfleet. As such he will do what ever it takes to further the causes and goals of the orginization. He is also a survivor. Being in internment camps at a young age, and a freedom fighter later on; he learned the value of survival. Coupled with his drive, this strong survivor streak has bread an uncanny resourcefulness which turns impossible odds and situations into feasible victories. His true Achilles heel is his attitude. It is likely he would advance further if he could get along with those in power. However, years being stepped in the neck by those in power has bred a certain level of distrust of authority. Furthermore he is quite morose being raised in a time where the notion of justice was gone and those in power killed his people for no reason. |
|
Ambitions | His greatest ambition is a strong Bajor. Never again does he desire to see her occupied, her people corralled and slaughtered like cattle. To see this dream a reality, he desires Bajor to enter the Federation. Secretly, he desires vengeance on the Cardassians. He wants them to suffer as he has, to see people they care for murdered for no reason.
Hobbies & Interests | Sardal has interests in a very strange spread of things. One of his many loves is speed. He simply enjoys going fast. He has a fighter concept that he has been perfecting since his time in the Academy. A great deal of his free time is spent on refining this design, he hopes that one day he can perhaps have one break warp 8. Another passion of his is poetry. While it doesn't make much sense that a man such as him enjoipys poetry, he finds composition soothing. He has written volumes as a way of coping with the ever present anger he feels. |
Personal History | Born into a family that was at one time decently wealthy members of the Va'Telo caste, at a young age Sardal learned the awful hardships the Cardassians wrought on Bajor. One of his earliest memories was his mother's anguished sobbing as members of the occupation stole his twin sisters from her moments after their birth. Things never truly improved for the young child. When he was old enough to work in the ore refining plant he was tossed right in on a chain gang. Here he learned the contempt that the occupation had bred into his people. His line was beaten for not processing fast enough. Obviously this was due to a small child being expected to do the harsh labor that a grown man would struggle with. This continued for weeks. Then one day when the shift was changed, he was accosted by one of his line mates. He approached him as he wasn't exiting the mine and ducked the young boy down a lesser used shaft. He placed a mining laser to young Sardal's throat and begged him for forgiveness, and explained that he had to kill him; he couldn't endure another beating because of the child. The boy closed his eyes and prayed the Prophets spare his life. His prayers were answers d in the form of a knife through his assailants throat. As he opened his eyes, a spray of crimson coated his face. The man with the laser slumped to the ground clutching at his neck. He gurgled and flailed for near a minute before a raspy blood bubble was blown from the wound in his neck. Turning to his Prophet sent savior, he was greeted by the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. She introduced herself as Jeerla, a resistance fighter. They have come to destroy the mine and have over thrown the guards. Everyone was free to escape. She would take him home if he didn't feel safe. In that moment he knew two terrible unescable truths. His mother and Father would die that night. This town would be made example of. The second, was the Prophets saved him to join the resistance. That night be fled with the woman, who turned to be part of the air support wing of the resistance. Not only that but she had a daughter his age that he could socialize with. Several months passed and he began to learn the trades of guerilla warfare. Being part of a detachment with fighters he also began to be instructed in air combat. His instructors noticed an innate aptitude at flying in the young man. When one of the pilots was captured by the occupation, he was given a copilot position with one of the top aces of the resistance. Sardal was given command of his own fighter when one of the squadron was arrested and executed by the Obsidian Order. He served in this capacity until he was given a wing of his own. It was often selected for the most dangerous missions and was a strict volunteer basis. The casualty rate was high and it took its toll on the young man. The most devastating blow to the young Sardal was when his wife, Jeerla, a fellow revolutionary and sweet heart of many years died in a raid by the Obsidian Order. It was an indiscriminate bombing of a camp. In this merciless attack was his baby daughter, Izra. Her body was never found and was just assumed to be vaporized by the ordnance. Then for seemingly no reason, the Cardassians with drew. Later Sardal would find that it was due to the Federation putting pressure on the Cardassians that they fled like cowards. That was true strength, never having to fire a shot but being willing to do so on behalf of a beleaguered people. He applied for an academy slot and got the approval of a commander who was stationed on Bajor for relief efforts. He graduated in the top 25 percentile. He seemed to lack passion in the fields of science, art and other intellectual pursuits. Instead he seemed to excel in flight, a given and manner of tactical nature. He commissioned in a wing with out a home. Shortly after commissioning he was offered a position in the new Gold Flight Wing and to be the Wing Commander on an Akira Class vessel called Manoora. With the fight against the Dominion on, he knew it would be his best shot at the Cardassians and he took it with out reservation. |
